New York, NY (June 29, 2026) – Today, producers Jacob Stuckelman and Andrew Patino of Regular People and Christian Palomares of Paloma Theatrical announced that “Saturday Night Live” alum Chloe Troast will write and star in the new theatrical experience PEPPER SLIT: Live in Her Living Room directed by comedian Sam Blumenfeld. The 4-week limited engagement will begin performances at the East Village Basement (321 East 9^th Street) on Tuesday, July 21 with an opening night set for Thursday, July 30.

The cast for PEPPER SLIT will also include Sam Blumenfeld, Tej Khanna, Gus Laughlin, Jamie Linn Watson, and music director Charlie O’Connor. Surprise special guests will be announced shortly.

Troast stated, “’Pepper’ is a woman that lives inside me and has probably lived there my whole life. At age 11, my favorite Broadway show was Follies – a classic preteen tale about the decay of female beauty and fading fame within an unscrupulous industry of vaudeville and burlesque. I was obsessed with Liza, Bernadette, Elaine Stritch, Carol Burnett, Eartha Kitt, Little Edie, Cher. Divas of stage and screen. ‘Pepper’ is an amalgamation of all these things plus a newborn baby. She has been everywhere, done everything, is wistful, entitled, crass, yet somehow innocent. She is a live wire and an open wound with an enormous story to tell.”

The producers stated, “We couldn’t be more thrilled to kick off this summer with this theatrical fever dream from the brain of Chloe Troast. Audiences are more eager than ever to be part of shared experiences, and we’re excited to give New Yorkers exactly that.”

The space is designed like a cozy living room, providing an intimate and creative atmosphere for small-scale shows, readings, rehearsals, events and more.

BIOGRAPHIES

Chloe Troast (Pepper Slit, Writer) is an actor, writer and comedian based in New York City. Chloe is a former writer and featured cast member on “Saturday Night Live” and can currently be seen in the Feature Films Sweethearts starring Kieran Shipka, Goodrich opposite Michael Keaton, the Netflix series “Four Seasons” with Tiny Fey and the NBC series “The Rise and Fall of Reggie Dinkins.” Chloe can also be seen in Please Don’t Destroy: The Treasure of Foggy Mountain opposite Conan O’Brien, Bowen Yang and Megan Stalter, directed by Paul Briganti and produced by Judd Apatow and her debut Adult Swim Smalls series “DOHLS” is currently streaming on HBOMax. Chloe was a 2023 Just For Laughs “New Face” in the character category. Chloe is currently working on her hit Stapleview sketch show Spilling Your Seed, and will soon be seen in the Hulu miniseries “Furious.”

Sam Blumenfeld (Director) is a comedian and producer based in New York City. Sam is the President of the production company collective, Lisa (www.thelisawebsite.com). Sam is the director and co-head writer on Spilling Your Seed, produced by Lisa and Stapleview (www.stapleview.com), starring Chloe Troast. Theatrically, Sam is the head writer and director of Lisa’s live sketch shows, the co-writer and director of Chloe Troast’s Pepper Slit, Dylan Adler’s Haus of Dy-Lan, and Emily Wilson’s Fixed, which was nominated for best newcomer at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Together, Sam and Emily host the weekly sold-out standup show Tuesdays at The Red Room in the East Village. Sam has produced and performed in shows all across the U.S. and internationally in London, Edinburgh, and Australia as part of the Adelaide Cabaret festival.

Rodri Hernandez Mtz. (Scenic Design) is an incredibly hot, sexy and beautiful scenographer and artist from Cancun and Mexico City working in different mediums including performance art, theatre, opera, and dance using design elements as dramaturgy. Previous works include: SOMETHING BORROWED, SOMETHING GREEN commissioned performance piece at Park Ave. Armory, NYC. Scenic and Costume designer for I’m Gonna Marry You Tobey Maguire at The Cell, NYC & Southwark Playhouse, London. M.F.A. in Design for Stage and Film from NYU Tisch  

Cha See (Lighting Design) made history as the first Filipino lighting designer on Broadway with Oh, Mary! and Liberation. Her honors include the 2026 Lucille Lortel Award for Outstanding Lighting Design for The Unknown at Studio Seaview, a 2026 Obie Award for Sustained Achievement in Design, and an Obie Citation for Wet Brain at Playwrights Horizons. Recent highlights include Oh, Mary! in the West End, Jesus Christ Superstar at Goodspeed, The Disappear at Audible, The Monsters at Two River and MTC, Trophy Boys at MCC, Josh Sharp: Ta-Da! at Greenwich Theatre, Hold Me in the Water at Playwrights Horizons, and You Will Get Sick at Roundabout. Brandon Bulls (Sound Design) (He/Him) is a sound designer and composer whose work spans theatre, opera, and devised new work. Recent design credits include Well, I’ll Let You Go (Studio Seaview), The Tragedy of Coriolanus (Theatre for a New Audience), N/A (Barrington Stage Company), NINA and The Lucky Ones (TheaterLab), On Set With Theda Bara (The Brick), Singin’ in the Rain (Playhouse on Park), Hedda Gabler (Atlantic Theater Acting Studio), and Tempo (Williamstown Theatre Festival). Brandon holds a BA in Theater Arts and a BM in Music Composition from the University of the Incarnate Word.
