New York, NY (June 18, 2026) — Lincoln Center Theater announced today that in partnership with Rock the Vote, the critically-acclaimed Broadway revival of Ragtime, which recently won four 2026 Tony Awards including Best Revival of a Musical, will host a voter registration drive every Wednesday in July (7/1, 7/8, 7/15, 7/22, 7/29) from 5:30-7:30pm in the Lincoln Center Theater Lobby (150 West 65^th Street).

At the launch-day activation on July 1, members of the Ragtime company will be present to help welcome and engage the public – greeting attendees and encouraging participation in on-site voter registration efforts – creating an accessible, open, and community-centered space where guests can easily register to vote, update their registration, or learn more about the process. All elements of these activations will be strictly nonpartisan.

For over four decades, Lincoln Center Theater has championed storytelling that reflects the complexity, ambition, and evolving identity of American life. Few works embody that mission more powerfully than Ragtime, a soaring representation of a nation straining toward its promise. Ragtime is the adaptation of E. L. Doctorow’s classic novel that follows three fictional families in pursuit of the American Dream at the dawn of the 20th Century: Black pianist Coalhouse Walker, Jr. and his beloved Sarah, Jewish immigrant Tateh and his little girl, and a wealthy white family led by matriarch Mother—a portrait of a country transformed by those who come to it, and by the contributions they make to its culture, conscience, and future. All grasping for the same dream, if only they can hold onto it.

We’ve seen how this production has galvanized audiences, and now – in partnership with Rock the Vote – we’re proud to invite members of the public to join the company of Ragtime as active participants in our democracy.”

Perfectly aligned with Ragtime’s themes of justice, civic engagement, and the pursuit of equity in America, and with how deeply resonant the show is in the current cultural climate, this initiative is a way for the public to turn reflection into participation, connecting the emotional impact of this American masterpiece with a tangible civic moment in the heart of New York City.

Directed by Kewsong Lee Artistic Director Lear deBessonet, Ragtime has been described by critics as “the show of the moment,” “glorious,” “a staggering, stunning triumph,” and “a brightly shining revival,” Lincoln Center Theater’s limited engagement of Ragtime has been extended three times by popular demand with performances now through August 16, 2026. The production set a new box office record at the Vivian Beaumont Theater and recently won four Tony Awards including Best Revival of a Musical, Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical (Joshua Henry), Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Musical (Caissie Levy), and Best Sound Design of a Musical (Kai Harada); five Drama Desk Awards including Outstanding Revival of a Musical, Outstanding Lead Performer in a Musical (Joshua Henry) Outstanding Lead Performer in a Musical (Caissie Levy), Outstanding Featured Performer in a Musical (Ben Levi Ross), Outstanding Direction of a Musical (Lear deBessonet); five Outer Critics Circle Awards including Outstanding Revival of a Musical, Outstanding Lead Performer in a Broadway Musical (Joshua Henry), Outstanding Featured Performer in a Broadway Musical (Ben Levi Ross), Outstanding Direction of a Musical (Lear deBessonet), Outstanding Video/Projection Design (59 Studio); as well as three Drama League Awards including Outstanding Revival of a Musical, Outstanding Direction of a Musical (Lear deBessonet), and Distinguished Performance (Joshua Henry). Caissie Levy also received Distinguished Achievement in Musical Theater Award at the 2026 ceremony.

Featuring a Tony Award-winning score by Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens, Tony Award-winning book by Terrence McNally, and Tony Award-winning orchestrations by William David Brohn, Ragtime weaves fictional narratives with real historical figures and events, creating a rich tapestry that blurs the line between personal struggle and national identity, making history feel both intimate and epic.

The creative team for Ragtime includes Ellenore Scott (choreography), David Korins (scenic design), Linda Cho (costume design), Adam Honoré & Donald Holder (lighting design), Kai Harada (sound design), 59 Studio (projection design), Tom Watson (hair & wig design), Ann James (sensitivity specialist), and The Telsey Office, Craig Burns, CSA (casting).

Ragtime’s 2025 Broadway Cast Recording, which was released by Concord Theatricals Recordings is available on all streaming and download platforms. The album was produced by three-time Grammy® Award winner Sean Patrick Flahaven and four-time Grammy Award nominees Ahrens and Flaherty. The album was recorded, edited, and mixed by Grammy Award winner Ian Kagey and mastered by multiple Grammy winner Oscar Zambrano with art direction by Derek Bishop. A 2-LP vinyl package was released earlier this month in three color variants: “Lady Liberty Green” for wide release; “America,” available exclusively at Barnes & Noble; and “Ragtime Red,” available exclusively at Lincoln Center Theater and Creative Goods.

It was recently announced that Ragime will launch a North American Tour in the fall of 2027. The tour will premiere at Shea’s Buffalo Theatre in Buffalo, New York, before continuing onto cities across the U.S. and Canada. Additional tour stops and casting will be announced at a later date.

The season also includes upcoming productions of The Whoopi Monologues at the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater; and The Reading Series with LCT3 at the Claire Tow Theater.

Founded in 1985 by Board Chair Hon. John V. Lindsay, Executive Producer Bernie Gersten and Director Gregory Mosher, and led for 33 years by André Bishop, LCT is one of the leading nonprofit theaters in the country, producing an annual season of plays and musicals that have been seen by millions around the globe.
