New York, NY (June 2, 2026) — Lincoln Center Theater’s critically-acclaimed Broadway revival of Ragtime, which has been nominated for 11 Tony Awards including Best Revival of a Musical, announced today that in recognition of National Immigrant Heritage Month, Lincoln Center Theater will honor a remarkable group of visionary leaders for a special evening at Ragtime on Tuesday, June 23 at the Vivian Beaumont Theater (150 West 65th Street) to celebrate the extraordinary ways immigrants have shaped – and continue to shape – the cultural, intellectual, and civic fabric of this country. Notable guests attending the evening will include Nobel Prize winner in Chemistry, Prof. Moungi Bawendi; Globally renowned public health expert, Dr. Wafaa El-Sadr; Pulitzer Prize-winning musician, Tania Léon; President of the National Immigration Law Center, Kica Matos; domestic worker, Lizeth Palencia, among many others.

For over four decades, Lincoln Center Theater has championed storytelling that reflects the complexity, ambition, and evolving identity of American life. Few works embody that mission more powerfully than Ragtime, a soaring representation of a nation straining toward its promise. Ragtime is the adaptation of E. L. Doctorow’s classic novel that follows three fictional families in pursuit of the American Dream at the dawn of the 20th Century: Black pianist Coalhouse Walker, Jr. and his beloved Sarah, Jewish immigrant Tateh and his little girl, and a wealthy white family led by matriarch Mother—a portrait of a country transformed by those who come to it, and by the contributions they make to its culture, conscience, and future. All grasping for the same dream, if only they can hold onto it.

Kewsong Lee Artistic Director Lear deBessonet commented, “We at Lincoln Center Theater are profoundly honored to celebrate the immense contributions immigrants have made to American culture. Bringing together visionaries from the fields of health, sciences, the arts, and athletics, alongside hometown heroes whose lives of generosity and public service elevate our society is a great privilege, and we are so proud to live in a time when the American theater can be in vital dialogue with the wider culture.”

Directed by Kewsong Lee Artistic Director Lear deBessonet, Ragtime has been described by critics as “the show of the moment,” “glorious,” “a staggering, stunning triumph,” and “a brightly shining revival,” Lincoln Center Theater’s limited engagement of Ragtime has been extended twice by popular demand with performances now through August 2, 2026. The production set a new box office record at the Vivian Beaumont Theater and recently won five Drama Desk Awards including Outstanding Revival of a Musical, Outstanding Lead Performer in a Musical (Joshua Henry) Outstanding Lead Performer in a Musical (Caissie Levy), Outstanding Featured Performer in a Musical (Ben Levi Ross), Outstanding Direction of a Musical (Lear deBessonet); five Outer Critics Circle Awards including Outstanding Revival of a Musical, Outstanding Lead Performer in a Broadway Musical (Joshua Henry), Outstanding Featured Performer in a Broadway Musical (Ben Levi Ross), Outstanding Direction of a Musical (Lear deBessonet), Outstanding Video/Projection Design (59 Studio); as well as three Drama League Awards including Outstanding Revival of a Musical, Outstanding Direction of a Musical (Lear deBessonet), and Distinguished Performance (Joshua Henry). Caissie Levy also received Distinguished Achievement in Musical Theater Award at the 2026 ceremony.

Featuring a Tony Award-winning score by Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens, Tony Award-winning book by Terrence McNally, and Tony Award-winning orchestrations by William David Brohn, Ragtime weaves fictional narratives with real historical figures and events, creating a rich tapestry that blurs the line between personal struggle and national identity, making history feel both intimate and epic.

The creative team for Ragtime includes Ellenore Scott (choreography), David Korins (scenic design), Linda Cho (costume design), Adam Honoré & Donald Holder (lighting design), Kai Harada (sound design), 59 Studio (projection design), Tom Watson (hair & wig design), Ann James (sensitivity specialist), and The Telsey Office, Craig Burns, CSA (casting).

Ragtime’s 2025 Broadway Cast Recording, which was released by Concord Theatricals Recordings is available on all streaming and download platforms. The album was produced by three-time Grammy® Award winner Sean Patrick Flahaven and four-time Grammy Award nominees Ahrens and Flaherty. The album was recorded, edited, and mixed by Grammy Award winner Ian Kagey and mastered by multiple Grammy winner Oscar Zambrano with art direction by Derek Bishop. A 2-LP vinyl package was released earlier this month in three color variants: “Lady Liberty Green” for wide release; “America,” available exclusively at Barnes & Noble; and “Ragtime Red,” available exclusively at Lincoln Center Theater and Creative Goods.

It was recently announced that Ragime will launch a North American Tour in the fall of 2027. The tour will premiere at Shea’s Buffalo Theatre in Buffalo, New York, before continuing onto cities across the U.S. and Canada. Additional tour stops and casting will be announced at a later date.

Ragtime is produced on Broadway by Lincoln Center Theater in association with Tom Kirdahy, Kevin Ryan, Robert Greenblatt, and Lamar Richardson, along with Thomas M. Neff, Roy and Jill Furman, Stephanie P. McClelland, Michael Page, Acton Rothschild Productions/Willette and Manny Klausner, Alexander-Taylor Deignan/Jay and Mary Sullivan, D’Angora Padgett Productions/Janet and Marvin Rosen, Maggio Lane/ Rubin Bolosh, and Peter May/Coluzzi Cohen.

The Gala Production of Ragtime was produced in 2024 by New York City Center (Michael S. Rosenberg, President & CEO; Jenny Gersten, VP of Musical Theater).
