Will Butler, creator of the Original Songs and Orchestration in the most Tony-Nominated Play of the season, Stereophonic, joins us On The Couch this week. A Grammy Winning, Oscar- and now two-time Tony-Nominated artist, his talent has been taking the music and film industries by storm since 2011 when his band, Arcade Fire, won Album of the Year for their record The Suburbs. Stereophonic marks his Broadway debut – and what a success it’s proving to be.

Butler admits that he’s in the midst of his proudest moment, which isn’t hard to believe. It’s not every day that you get to make history. Read our full interview below.

What was your proudest moment?
Still in the midst of it, I guess

What do you consider to be your best asset?
I’m pretty good at gettin’ along

Fancy chinese black tea

Dark russian/eastern european bread

Store bought cookies

to have something last for 300 years

reading the news

What do you consider to be the single greatest threat to your health?
sleep (lack thereof)

from my mom, music. from my dad, trying to find the best way to do things

a good paragraph in a book. like, a really good one.

the lack of money for the arts ha ha ha

What was the most embarrassing moment you’ve ever experienced on the job?
trying to strike up a conversation with Amy Adams (not her fault ha ha ha)

What is your favorite place in the world?
quiet

What is the most important trait you seek in a romantic partner?
reliability

Do you prefer the company of dogs or cats?
neither–allergies 

What would have to happen to make today the best day of your life?
a good night’s sleep would be necessary but not sufficient. and then…hmm…objectively my best day is probably behind me, but there’s still some real good ones left I imagine.

What is your personal motto?
Never trust anyone (in a positive, nice way)
